Botanicalls, our project that gives plants the ability to make phone calls and send text messages, is launching a new project for the streets. Botanicalls: A Walking Tour Led by the Plants of Manhattan is happening this Thursday, September 11 through Sunday, September 14 beginning at The Center for Architecture on LaGuardia Street as a part of Conflux Festival 2008. Come take the tour! It’s free and in about 40 minutes you’ll get to hear about this New York City neightborhood from the plants-eye view.
The tour features colonializing English Ivy, an old beech grove in Alan Sonfist’s Time Landscape, a snobby rose in the community garden and ancient algae hanging out under an air conditioner, among others. They not only talk to each other, they also give you a bit of city and geological history, along with a plentiful helping of personality.
